So~ It's that time of year again~! :D

Though, I guess this is only my second yearly review, and when I made one last year my Flist consisted of one person. XD;;

So I guess I should explain:
At the end of each year I make a sort of... public wrap-up post about all the important events that happened over the year.
...That was easier to explain then I thought it would be.
IT'S A REALLY LONG POST ANYWAY, SO FEEL FREE TO SKIM IT/SKIP IT/PUT IT OFF.

If you're some kind of masochist or interested for some reason, here's last year's review.

That said, the first thing I remember about this year was posting at [livejournal.com profile] animeaddme  and actually starting to make friends here. ♥
This was the first year I actually began to use this website extensively, and I'm glad I did. Everyone I've met here is so nice. ;3;
And it's been a good way to just... I dunno, get my thoughts out, I guess~

This year started with, well, that, but then also, my second semester of college~
It was spent taking Biology, English, Psychology, and more Spanish~

Biology was hell. I'm never taking another lab class again. NEVER.
The professor was nice, but she was hard to follow and it didn't feel like I learned much. ._.

English was pretty awesome, actually. The whole class was reading and writing papers, but the professor was amazing, and we spent so much time revising, no one really had any excuse not to pass. We read In Defense of Food, Native Speaker, and The Latehomecomer.

In Defense of Food really... that book changed my whole outlook on food. It made me realize how much of what we're eating isn't real food anymore, and how much of it is just processed whatchamawhoosits.

Native Speaker was okay, but I wouldn't read it again. :|
It was about like... Korean Americans and politics and... well, I had trouble reading it without spending every moment going, "Wow, some kimchi sounds delicious right about now. :|"
I feel like I learned a lot about Koreans this year. :|a
My neighbor in the dorms was Korean and alskdjfs SHE'S SO CUTE. ;3;
She's still going to our college, actually. Just not living next to me anymore. /slight tangent

The Latehomecomer was sort of an autobiography of sorts, about this woman whose family escaped from war-torn Laos when she was a child. They lived in a camp in Thailand, and then later moved to the United States. (Minnesota, actually, which I think is why they chose this book.) The author came and gave a... I don't feel like "lecture" is the right word, but... AAAAAAAAH. EVERYTHING SHE SAID WAS LIKE. LIKE. LADY SPEAKS FROM HER HEART, MAN. I WAS ON THE VERGE OF TEARS THE WHOLE TIME. ;A;

This book also really... well, it introduced me to a bit of Hmong culture that changed my way of thinking about families. There's a Hmong belief that says that children live in the sky, and they see the Earth before they're born, and children choose the parents they're born to. I know the whole "babies floating in the sky" thing is kind of silly sounding, but the idea of people choosing their parents is eye-opening. It really changes your perspective on the family dynamic.

Psychology was the easiest course I've ever taken ever.
Easiest A of all time, guys. For serious.

Spanish was amazing like it always is. Actually, I had Spanish (and English too) with a friend from high school. We weren't real close friends in high school, but he's a pretty awesome guy, and I'd say we've bonded a bit over the Español. =3=

Andandand I FINALLY DECLARED MY MAJOR.
Global Studies (Asia) with minors in Spanish and Intercultural Communication~
But it looks like I'll be changing that soon. Not much, just making Spanish a major instead of a minor and adding a Japanese minor. Not sure if I'm keeping the Intercultural Comm. minor yet or not. I want to take a class in it first before I make that decision. XD;;

Oh~ And~
HEART GOLD AND SOUL SILVER CAME OUUUUT~!!
Even more awesome than I thought they'd be. ;3;
SO AMAZING. ♥♥♥
And much PokeGear phone hilarity ensued.
TOP PER-CENT-AGE. TOP PER-CENT-AGE. MAH RA-TAT-TA'S IN THE TOP PER-CENT-AGE.
STOP CALLING STOP CALLING I DON'T WANNA TALK ANYMORE~♪♫

The summer was spent helping my parents and lazing about. I had a lot of ideas for fanfiction, but only acted on one of them. I really need to work on that whole willpower problem. "OTL

And then, HETALIA FAN CARD CAMPAIGN.
EVEN THOUGH MINE WEREN'T REALLY THAT AWESOME, I'M STILL REALLY PROUD OF THE FACT I PARTICIPATED.
THAT REALLY HAS TO BE THE MOST I'VE EVER CONTRIBUTED A FANDOM EVER. 8D

That was an intense few weeks. =3=
I remember I was so excited I couldn't sleep, so I got up in the middle of the night and worked on the fan cards some more. So much squeeing. A small part of me kind of misses those days. ;3; A very small part.

I got a job at the Subway in the town where I went to high school~
And subsequently, I named the Subway Luis~

Driving to work somehow revived my hope in pop music and I started listening to it more. =3=
And I found I love Katy Perry. I really want to listen to more of her music. ;3;

I got into para para dance and did a lot more walking over the summer, thanks to my PokeWalkers~♥
This made my weight-loss goal a lot easier~ :D

Then I prayed fervently that I'd have a geeky roommate for the next year of college~

And then there was autumn~

And my prayers were answered~
With a resounding "NO." ;;
But the NO came with a 32-in television, so I decided to deal.

During the fall semester I took Chemistry, Intro to Global Studies, even more Spanish, and started Japanese~

I hated Chemistry, but I never have to take another science class ever, so FUCK YEAH. \o/
But the professor was really entertaining, despite the fact he wasn't that great at explaining things. XD;;

Intro to GS was... uh... well, really eye-opening as far as the state of the world and everything, but FFFFFF WHY'D I HAVE TO GET A BBBBB? ;;
The professor had this really posh Indian accent too. Which I didn't know was possible until now. He was nice, but his accent made me feel kind of stupid when I was talking to him. OTL

Spanish was awesome again~
The professor's from Spain and ALSDFJD HE'S KIND OF SUPER ADORABLE. ;3;
They way he speaks and everything he says is just so-so-so ♥!!
Also, taken with friend from high school again~ He's actually studying abroad in Spanish this coming semester~ :D /all kinds of jealous
And speaking of friends, it's starting to feel like I recognize more and more of the people from the Spanish major/minor area and I'm kind of getting to know them. They're all really nice tooooo. ;3;

I went to one Spanish movie night. Instead of showing what they planned to show, they showed Y Tú Mamá También instead.
I was traumatized for life.
That said, I do plan to go to another one sometime, since there's no way it could be worse than that. I just haven't had the chance to yet. I hope they don't think they scared me off. ;;

JAPANEEEEEESE.
Was epic fun and omoshiroi desu. =3=
Tanoshii tanoshii tanoshii~
Yes that was necessary.
Sensei's really fun to learn from. ;3;
And actually, the people from the class who I've actually gotten to talk to have been really nice too~

I MET A LOT OF SUPER NICE PEOPLE THIS YEAR, GUYS. LSJDFKDSJF.

As far as anime club stuffs this fall goes, I got made the Public Relations rep~ :D
I haven't really done anything except work on a new poster though. OTL
And even that's still up in the air, since I lack digital coloring skills and equipment.
*is a failure at PR*

Though it looks like we won't have enough funding from the student union for Detour this year, so WE GET TO DO FUNDRAISING NEXT YEAR. \o/
I shouldn't be this happy about that, but I feel like it'll be a chance for me to actually do something and that it might give us a bit more publicity. =3=
Though we did gain a lot of new members this year~ :D

And actually, I feel like I made a lot more friends in club this year too. Last year was like, "oh, well I met some friendly acquaintances" and this year I feel like I got closer to them and actually started hanging out with them a bit more. Not a whole lot, but... enough to be notable, you know? I was kind of distant and timid last year. ;;

As for the actual anime part of anime club, we consistently watched Durarara, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Shikabane-hime, and Bakemonogatari. We didn't finish any of them. OTL

Durarara is amazing, but I'm fairly sure all of you already know that so I feel no need to explore this further. We are planning to continue watching it next semester, but we're going to have a catch-up day for anyone new that might join us that hasn't seen it yet. =3=

Kaichou wa Maid-sama is adorable and hilarious and I really need to watch the rest. ;;
MORE YUKIMURA IN GIRLS CLOTHING PLZ. >D

Shikabane-hime, I actually finished Aka, and... it was good, but I felt like the whole first season was just like... explaining everything and setting up for the second season. I want to watch more before I judge it.

I loved Bakemonogatari. I'm pretty sure Araragi-kun is Itoshiki-sensei's long lost son. [I love their voice actor so much. =3=]
And Senjougahara-san is just... PFFFT. I LOVE EVERYTHING SHE SAYS. XD
I still can't get over how amazing and beautiful Studio SHAFT's style is. *o*
But admittedly, if you're looking for action, go somewhere else. I know a few people that were left either bored stiff or going "...WTF?" at this series. ._.

For some reason I don't really remember what I watched over the summer. Huh.

Oh~ But at beginning of the year in club I watched:
-Princess Tutu
-Gurren Lagann
-Spice & Wolf
-Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland

Both of the former I later finished on my own, Spice & Wolf and Miyuki-chan were finished in club.
The ending of Gurren Lagann was just sososo I DON'T EVEN. JUST WOW. HOLY FUCKING WOW.

Other stuff I watched this year:
-Hetalia World Series
-Paranoia Agent*
-Princess Jellyfish
-The World God Only Knows
-Panty & Stocking
-Death Note
-Neon Genesis Evangelion
-5CM Per Second*
-Gravitation*
-Paprika*
-Shakugan no Shana S*
-2nd season of Haruhi Suzumiya (AKA The Endless Eight and four or so other episodes)*

* = FINISHED, FUCK YEAH.

HETALIA FEVER CONTINUES.
But I don't really know what to think of the fandom. Apart from the fan card thing, I haven't really been participating and instead I've just been watching from the outside. I guess I'd really like to do some things like cosplay and hang out with other fans at some point, but I dunno... it seems like while there's a lot of good people, there's a lot of crap that goes on and the whole fandom is just so ridiculously huge that it's kind of intimidating and hard to jump in. :|

I don't know if I'm going to continue watching Panty & Stocking or not. I guess, I like it because you never really know what to expect, but I'm not super big on raunchy humor, so... yeah. I dunno.
But... but... BUT THAT TRANSFORMATION SCENE IN THE FIRST EPISODE. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL.
And I don't just mean that in an "lol sexeh trahnsfermayshun" way, but in a "OH GOD THE ARTWORK WHY ISN'T THERE A SERIES THAT LOOKS LIKE THAT YET?"
Fo'srs, I could just stare at art like that all day. *o*
And the rest of the show is in the Powerpuff Z style. :|
I guess that fits the show, butbutbut... IT WAS SO PRETTY. WHYYY. ;;

I mostly watched Gravitation because I was the one shounen-ai fan that somehow managed to miss it.
I was unimpressed.
I would never recommend this show to anyone ever. It sucks.
I spent the whole series being angry and frustrated with the characters and how stupid they all were.

5cm/sec was disappointing too, but it was more disappointing in a kind of "I THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A SOB FEST WHY ISN'T IT SAD YET?" kind of way. The visuals were beautiful and the story was good, and I wouldn't say it was a bad film. It just wasn't as horribly depressing as everyone kept telling me it was. :|a

Shakugan no Shana S rekindled my love for the Shakugan no Shana series. LSKDJFLDSKJ. I CANNOT EXPRESS THIS IN WORDS.
I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH I LOVED IT BEFORE, BUT NOW I KNOW. SEASON THREE NEEDS TO COME OUT FASTER. ;;

AND I GOT OFF MY ASS AND MADE A PROFILE. SO PRODUCTIVE, MAN. |Db

And Christmas was awesome because BLUES BROTHERRRRRS. ♥♥♥

Aaaand I participated in the holiday fic exchange thing at [livejournal.com profile] pokeprompts , which I feel really forced me to explore a different area of writing. I'd like to get back into writing next year, whether it be original, fanfic, RP, anything.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this, but whoever got my prompt wrote this amazing fic for me. ;3; ♥
THANK YOU ANON. ♥!!
THOUGH I GUESS TOMORROW YOU WON'T BE ANON ANYMORE, BUT YOU KNOW.

My diet kind of failed at the end of this year because FOR SOME REASON THERE'S COOKIES EVERYWHERE. FFFFFFFF.

Speaking of which~
My resolutions for this year were:
-Learn the Hare Hare Yukai
-Lose 10 pounds doing so
-Cosplay someone in 2011

I succeeded in the first two. Actually, I lost 25 pounds this year~! |Db
I feel so triumphant~ >D
I was 180 at the beginning of 2010. Now I'm 155. :D
According to BMI, 2-3 more pounds and I'm no longer classified as overweight. \o/

I gave up on the third one, but recently Mom and I were talking about it and even though she's not that thrilled about it she somehow inspired me to get back on it. I am going to cosplay Ichijou-san, and I am going to sew her uniform and skirt. GO-GO CRASH COURSE IN SEWING.
I MADE A SWEATSHIRT, I CAN MAKE A COSPLAY.

Whether or not I'll do that in time for this coming Detour, I don't know yet, but I WILL MAKE THIS COSPLAY THIS YEAR.

I'm going to continue losing weight, or at least, attempting to. I don't want to be anorexic skinny or anything, but this year I realized I really want to cosplay Siesta 410 at some point, and her outfit is really quite... revealing. XD;;
I probably won't cosplay her until after I move out on my own though, because I can just imagine my parents' reaction to finding a military bunny girl outfit in my closet.

Also, I someday want to cosplay America, Norway, Beatrice, Eva Beatrice, SF-A2 miki, Miku, Tsuruya, Kafuka Fuura (or honestly, any of the girls from Zetsubou-Sensei), Elsie, Tenma, Shiina Tamai, Maid!Misaki, Gold, Silver, and and some kind of custom Sneasel gijinka. =3=
And possibly Haruhi. But who hasn't cosplayed Haruhi? :|

So~!
Resolutions for 2011:
  • Lose 10-15-ish more pounds
  • COSPLAY. DOITDOITDOIT.
  • Get around to EV training a team, dammit.
  • WRITE MOAR.

Go-go self! I believe in you!

Main things I'm looking forward to in 2011:
  • NEW ROOMMATE - THE LAST ONE MOVED OUT~ :D
  • DETOUUUUUR - MY FIRST CONVENTION EVER.
  • JAPAAAAAAAAN - TRAVEL STUDYYYYY~
FUCK YEAH. GONNA BE AWESOME.
EXPENSIVE, BUT AWESOME.
