lurora: (Dive into the Universe // SF-A2 miki)
First of all~ Happy Hetalia Day~! :D

Oh~ And mostly posting because I just did something so incredibly stupid that it left me laughing for several minutes afterward.

Okay, so I got home from work and the garage door is closed and doesn't have a remote to open it from a distance, so I get out of the car and go to open it. I walk back to get back into the car AND IT STARTS ROLLING FORWARD WITHOUT ME.

So I'm like, "What the-- NUUUUU DAMMIT COME BAAAAACK." and attempt to pull the car back by the open driver's side door.

Which failed, of course.

And then I manage to jump in the car (since it wasn't going that fast) and hit the brake. I soon realized I hadn't put the damn thing in park before exiting the vehicle. I guess I just assumed it was since it stopped moving. ;;

And then afterward I realized how stupidly ridiculous the whole thing was and I still haven't managed to stop giggling about it. XD;;

I love how they picked purple. =3=
My university's school color is purple. |Db
For serious, I could've done like, Spirit Goddamn Week, man.
Let's do that next year, hm~? :D?

So~ Yesterday being Spirit Day and all, I thought I'd say something quick about it. Not much, just a few of my short thoughts on love in general.

I'd like to start by saying that I myself have never actually been in love or even had a significant other to speak of, so I will admit, I am terribly inexperienced and possibly misinformed. If and when I do crush on non-fictional people, I don't tell people. I don't feel comfortable sharing this information with anyone. Not my mom, not my grandmother, not my friends, not even you, Flist. Dating and relationships are a very uncomfortable subject for me. I don't like so much as insinuating that I would want one or have one. I don't know why. Perhaps because it would show weakness, or maybe because I'm too shy and insecure, or because I'm sheltered, or because I'm too prideful, or because I don't want to deal with the teasing, or because I fear it'll never really happen. Mostly I think it's because I don't understand how someone can completely open up to another person. I say this as someone with nothing to hide. No past relationships gone wrong. No inner pain. No obnoxiously large crime record. Just as a normal chick, with an uneventful, but otherwise charmed and comfortable life.

Aaaand... holy crap large tangent that is not what I was planning to write about.
But since I went down that path, hell, why not?

You're supposed to go out and look for someone and not just sit around waiting for someone to come to your doorstep. Well, that's great, but what am I supposed to do? I have a hard time talking to people and even making just regular friends as it is. I mean, I'm working on it. I really am. But how do you approach someone with something like a relationship? That's so... awkward. I don't even know how you'd... like... just... I DON'T EVEN KNOW GUYS OKAY?

I don't understand how dating works. Especially these days when apparently dating = sex.

Why does everyone associate love with sex?
I don't get it.

Love isn't something physical. It isn't bound by things like what kind of body you have. It's bigger, stronger, more than that.

I understand that yes, M/F relations have to happen for maintaining the population.
But sex =/= love.

A straight woman or gay man doesn't love their man for his penis.
A straight man or gay woman doesn't love their woman for her breasts or vagina.
A person doesn't love another person for their physical attributes or their body.

So why the hell does everyone have this whole "I want a guy. / I want a girl." mentality?
Why should people even have to specify their sexuality? Why are we categorized?
Why should people even have a preference? Why does it matter?

Love connects souls, not bodies.
Or at least, that's what I want to believe.

anon meme.
Be gentle, yo. ;;

Though I was thinking of making a permanon post. The only thing is, I feel like it'll never be used and I don't have many public posts and I'm not really that active in any communities that anyone outside of my Flist would ever bother. XD;;

Oh~ And~ Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] wild_silvestris ~! Or I guess [livejournal.com profile] innate_autumn  now~ Whichever you prefer~

I'll be working on my trick from [livejournal.com profile] goldentruth  soon~
But first I'm-a catch up on everything I missed this weekend~

I'll start with the BIG NEWS.

Except when I left I'd only taken five dollars to prevent me from spending more than what I need for my orders. However, considering one of the things I'd ordered was THIS, I was like, "...WHAT. REALLY?"

And so I ran all the way from the book store back to the dorm and then back to the book store again. OTL

So then I called the nerd store and cancelled my order for it, but then I told them to pre-order volume 2 for me instead. =3=

To be honest, I really wanted this manga before the club fair so I could use it for the display.

Club fair went well~
...And the info card doodles are still on the home compy and not here. OTL
It's really not that important, I guess, but I'd still like to show you. ;;

Aaaand~ I need to catch up on Panty and Stocking.
Aaaand~ I need to get back to writing fanfic/RPing. It feels like it's been forever since I've written anything. "OTL

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.

It's probably already been all over everyone's Flists already, but eh~ What's one more reminder~?

lurora: (Life is wonderful~!!)

I see someone noticed I was gone and alerted everyone to post again~
Still catching up~ OTL

Church was hilarious today. My cousin's daughter kept waving back at him during the kid's sermon. After hearing what the pastor had to say she was like, "I'm-a go tell Daddy."
"Oh, okay."
So she runs back. Looks at him. Runs back to the front pew. Waves again.
It was so adorable. =3=

If anyone remembers my fair post about the birthday necklaces, then you already know what I got her. I wanted to take a photo of it, but I didn't bring my camera home this weekend. ;;
But it's really adorable~ Trust me~

Actually, upon rereading that post, I realized I didn't really go into detail about that, so STORY TIME~
Story time~ And also, Friday~ )
lurora: (Life is wonderful~!!)

Classes started~

In Spanish we're still just reviewing. We'll probably be starting new stuffs next week-ish.

Japanese is KLDJFLKDSJ SO FUUUN. It's officially become the highlight of my day. I've seriously been like, doing my Japanese homework early, before he even assigns it just for the hell of it. Also, I'm pretty sure Sensei and Anime Club Pres are pretty much the same person. Sensei isn't into animu and mango, but they act exactly the same, and it's hilarious. Also, I don't feel so bad about taking Japanese because of anime anymore. Most of the class is doing the same, apparently.
"I don't do anime and manga, but I thank God for them every day." Oh, Sensei. XD

I don't know what to think of Intro to Global Studies yet. So far it seems like it's going to be kind of a discussion class about politics and globalization/global culture, but we really haven't done much yet.

Chemistry Appreciation is going to be far easier than expected. The professor was seriously just like, "So... this is pretty much a high school level course and if you had this class in 8th or 9th grade, this is all going to be review. I know most of you are just taking this for an easy A/recquired credits. If you're majoring in Chemistry, GTFO and take a real Chemistry class." Okay, not literally like that, but pretty close. XD;;

I couldn't even read the chapter we were assigned because I was so bored with it. It was just like, "I already know all thiiiis. DX"

For some reason all of my professors except Sensei have an accent. Oh the ironing. :|a
Okay, the Spanish professor has an excuse since he's from Spain and it makes perfect sense for someone from Spain to teach Spanish in a Spanish accent. It's going to take me a while to get used to that lisp though. ._.

Let the pie baking begin~!
*is happeh*

Also, one week until college move-in~! :D
Can't wait to meet my roommate.
And not live in awkward silence with her, unlike the last one.
And to see the anime club again.
Except not K & K because they're in Japan this year. ;;
But everyone else~
And to start Japanese~
And not arguing with Dad all the time over stupid things like who should eat their pie on a plate and who should eat it out of the tin.
And to see Heather again~
And Spanish with Jordan Alejandro again~

College: Year Two is going to be awesome. |Db
lurora: (Leaving Iggy in despair since 1776)

Do it, yo. |Db

Why do bugs attack me when I mow the lawn? ;;

Also, not only has my driveway been taken over by small yellow butterflies, but also a good length of the highway by my house. It's like they're invading. D:

My friend's birthday is coming up on the 30th~ I'm-a draw her something, me thinks. She likes horses lots, so probably something like that.

This entry ended up longer than expected. )
lurora: (Dance! \o/)
So yesterday the driveway was all like, covered in those little yellow butterflies. I wanted to go all Earthbound on 'em and catch one and have it relax my party. =3=

Oh, and

And now I'm off to watch Mulan~ :D

So. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] redstars , I now have a paid account~♥!
WTF with that grammar, Self? How do you even read that? "I now have a paid account~HEART!"
At least for a while, anyway~

And so now I have MOAR ICON SPACE. \o/

As you can tell by my icon, it is quite joyous. ;D

Anyway, I've been unusually busy lately, so I... uh... ended up waiting until tonight to chronicle my week?
Also, I can't wait for the Hetalia fandom to die down a bit. As much as I love the series, and the fandom is, for the most part, incredibly nice, but my God, I can't watch the LJ comm because it gets a post every 5 seconds and I'm getting the feeling I can't watch any of the gazillion Hetalia groups on DA because I get 100 new pictures to look at every day. It makes me scared to log on and look. ;; [/random, out-of-place thought]

So the last time I posted was... Tuesday~ So then~ Wednesday events~ Go-go~!!

My Life: Wednesday through Saturday~ )

Aaaand just now my roommate sent me a message on Facebook. So much for my icebreaker call in an effort to cure my shyness. She seems nice though, and she frequently speaks Spanish and Spanglish with her other FB friends, which is a good sign. ;D
I would honestly love to have a roommate I can speak and practice Spanish with. This is very promising~

Guess it's looking like I'll be skipping the memes again tonight. I'll catch up tomorrow~ Maybe. Probably. The family picnic for my Mom's side is tomorrow, but considering it's usually pretty much over by 4:00 I'm sure I'll have plenty of time. =3=
lurora: (Despair Karaoke~! 8D)
So guys guys guys! Look! Look! Look!

[info]dexfiction  LIVES!

O-ho-ho-ho~ So wonderful it is~

And also, Magikarp says "Hi."

Picture-heavy post has poor hide-&-seek skills. Point them out, y/y? )

Edit: I almost forgot, but also I got AIM again. My AIM screenname is the same as my Windows Live address: wishmakerlji@hotmail.com
'Kay, that's it for real this time. |Db
lurora: (Megane Gold~)

Why has no one thought of this yet? orz

Are there really that many people that haven't played Earthbound?

And also, Cameron would be so much cooler if he came twirling down from the sky, yes?
lurora: (Elwood)
So I was reading through my last journal post, when I realized: I forgot to mention what possibly could've been the most important thing!

Okay, so graduating high school and starting college was the most important thing. But-but... the second most important thing!

I can't believe I didn't once mention the senior class trip to New York City. *headdesk*
If you can cut it here, you can cut it anywhere. )

And while I'm at it~

Yay~ New LJ friends~ ♥ ♥ ♥

I promise to write more than I have in the past year. I do, I do~

Read more... )... ... ...
lurora: (Default)
Right. So I said I'd write this thing. Awesome.

Pointless ramblings are a-go!

I don't really remember much about the beginning of the year, to be honest. All that really comes to mind is helping start my high school's newspaper and shouting "CONGLOMERATE!" to combine powers with my classmates in Economics class. In February I turned 18. Wasn't as exciting as everyone makes it out to be. Sure, I can vote (but the election of the century was already over), gamble (but I have no money), get in R-rated movies (too poor to go to the movies often anyway), and smoke (nasty smelling fire hazard), but I'm pretty much the same as I was a year ago.

In June I finally graduated high school, which really was as awesome as everyone makes it out to be.

Until I got my first college tuition bill.

And for the record, Recessional > Pomp & Circumstance. ;D

Since I'm attending college close to home, I still see my awesometastic friends almost... at least once a week.

Speaking of friends, my BFF is one of those Twilight people, and New Moon would soon be released. So of course I knew I would be dragged to that movie. After last year's experience with the first movie, I knew full well if I didn't read the book I'd be completely lost and wondering why they just suddenly walk into a forest for no reason, among other things.

I suppose you're wondering why I even bothered instead of rejecting her offer?
-She's my BFF.
-She's too moe to turn down. <.<;
-We have a tradition of going out for Chinese before going to any feature film.
-I plan on dragging her to the Artemis Fowl movie if it comes out before we turn into fossils.

Now just so you know, New Moon is most possibly the most boring book ever written. It's like the author was just like, "Here, have 500 pages of emo Bella and zero plot development~" At least Twilight had been tolerable, if even decent, but New Moon... FFFFFF--

So of course I put off reading it until the day before we planned to go (she had this planned out at least 6 months in advance). Poor move on my part. I should've spread out the torture.

So the day of the New Moon movie came. I was more excited about the Chinese food.

As expected, the Chinese food was unreasonably delicious. New Moon was surprisingly easy to mock. It helped that our group consisted of the only 5 people in the theater, so we were allowed to be somewhat obnoxious. Another friend and I were laughing the whole time. Apparently Bella has the same camera I do. I can't say I blame her. The Panasonic Lumix is an awesome camera. ;D

I was sorely disappointed that the movie cut out the two best parts of the book.
-Alice and Bella stealing the Porsche.
-Charlie yelling at Bella in caps lock whilst she was having a super serious conversation with Edward and Jacob.

Back to the subject of college, I still haven't managed to figure out what the heck I want to be when I grow up, and as such, I have yet to declare a major. I'm thinking about Spanish, though. All I really want to do is learn languages, so... yeah.

I had a bit of a rocky start, what with being horrible at Precalculus. By some miracle I managed to pull an F up to a B before the end of the semester. I've never been so proud of a B before. It really was wonderful. I've vowed never to do such a ridiculous excuse for math again. I aced all my other classes, despite thinking my speeches for public speaking class were suckish.

I also learned that I'm terrible at making friends. To be honest, I'm not sure how I made the ones I have now, because I can't seem to make a single friend in college. It doesn't really help that I'm unreasonably shy towards people I don't know very well. (Though, I have to admit, I'm one of those people who's incredibly obnoxious once I feel comfortable around someone. <.<;)

Upon learning that my college had an Anime Club, I immediately joined.

But before I go into that, I should cover my Pre-Anime Club anime exploits this year:
-Umineko no Naku Koro ni
-Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
-School Rumble
-Lucky Star OVA
-The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan
-Chi's Sweet Home
-Skip Beat! (unfinished)
-Death Note (unfinished)
-Negima!? (unfinished)
-Itazura na Kiss (unfinished)

A friend of mine introduced me to Umineko with the SN demo last year, and I was pretty much hooked. So of course, I just had to watch the anime when it came out this summer. And then I knew I definitely had to watch it's predecessor, Higurashi. I plan to watch Kai very soon and I'm hoping there's an anime for Chiru on its way.

School Rumble is one of those shows I've always wanted to watch, but couldn't for one reason or another. My luck took a turn for the better when Funimation uploaded the eps to YouTube. Needless to say, I was very pleased.

A friend from school actually recommended the Negima!? manga to me, so I took that a step further and started watching the anime. Unfortunately, the anime doesn't quite grab you like the manga does, so I'm progressing through it very slowly. As for the manga, I much prefer reading actual books over reading online scans, so reading any manga tends to be a slow business for me.

I may not finish Itazura na Kiss. To be honest, it's kind of boring and I don't really care for the art style that much. If it doesn't pick up soon I think I'll drop it.

One thing I noticed as I delved deeper and deeper into the anime fandom, is that I'm one of the few people who hasn't seen those shows that everyone has seen (or at least, not all the way through). (I.E.: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, etc, etc.) So one day (last year, I think), I was up late and I think to myself, "Oh look-- Death Note is on television. I think I'll watch an episode and see if I like it or not." At the end of the episode, I note that the ending song is different than what I remember seeing on YouTube and that they killed off the main character.

Then, glaring at the television screen I realize: It was the last. Fucking. Episode.

Of course I'd be the poor sap who actually manages to spoil the whole series for herself unintentionally.

So this year I was bound and determined to watch it. I haven't finished it yet, but it's a longer series than I usually watch, so that's to be expected.

Anyway, here's my Post-Joining-Anime Club list:
-Axis Powers Hetalia (airing)
-Higashi no Eden/Eden of the East (unfinished)
-Black Lagoon (unfinished)
-Princess Tutu (unfinished)
-Kuroshitsuji (unfinished)
-Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan (unfinished)

We're also watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Ouran High School Host Club, but having already seen those all the way through, I didn't bother putting them in the list.

Baccano!, like School Rumble, is another series I've always wanted to watch but for some reason couldn't. As such, I was filled with glee when I learned we'd be watching it in Anime Club. The Roaring 20s have always intrigued me, and anime being quite possibly my favorite hobby, well... combining the two sounded like a delicious gem~

With that said, it was. :D

Oh, Hetalia.
Hetalia Hetalia Hetalia.
After one episode I was addicted. I haven't been able to pull myself away from it since. After that first club meeting I went back to the dorm and watched every single episode that was available. That wasn't enough, so I found the webcomic and read that. Still not satisfied, I've spent my days watching MADs on YouTube and prowling on the Hetalia LJ comm. The new episodes and Marukaite Chikyuus are the highlights of my week. It's insane, man. INSANE.

It doesn't help that all the countries are so freaking adorable. I think I'll be stuck in this fandom for a long, long, long time. Axis Powers Hetalia, along with HGSS, has simply made my 2009, if not my whole decade.
Also, I'd just like to let a Mr. Alfred F. Jones know that I <3 him and that he can be my hero any day.

Eden of the East is just... wow. As soon as we started watching, I knew that any anime that manages to utilize near perfect English (in it's original, subbed format, mind you) has to be good. Just the fact they put that much work into getting that detail right told me there would be something awesome in store. And I was right. Definitely worth watching, and if we don't finish it in club, I certainly plan to watch it on my own. My only complaint would have to be the strange preoccupation with "Johnnies." <.<;

Princess Tutu is something I was planning to watch eventually since my friend had recommended it, but since it wasn't the first thing on my list I hadn't gotten to it yet. I have to say, the main character is quite possibly the cutest duck ever. We've only watched 2 episodes so far, so I don't really have much to say about it yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens~

Dokuro-chan... is... so horrible that it's funny. Unfortunately, the humor value only lasted through the first episode for me, and despite watching the horribly graphic Higurashi, Umineko, School Days, Narutaru, Baccano!, and Chaos;Head, there are some parts of Dokuro-chan that I simply can't watch because... just... guh. D:
Although, the op still amuses me to no end. It's fun to show people just for the shock value. :D

And four other things that should be mentioned about this year:
-Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver remakes were announced this year. I squeed. Next year is going to be awesome solely because of this.
-I somehow managed to get pulled into the whole Vocaloid fandom this summer. <3 Miracle Paint. <3 SF-A2 miki. <3 Project Diva videos. <3 Vocaloid PVs in general.
-This year I was somewhat unemployed. I say somewhat because they simply closed without informing me and are planning to reopen eventually, though the manager may be different so I'm unsure if I'll still be employed when they come back. As of right now, my job status is in a virtual limbo. <.<;
-My New Year's Resolution this year is to master the Hare Hare Yukai. My sub-resolution is to lose 10 pounds doing so. My sub-sub-resolution is to cosplay someone in 2011. I don't know who yet, though I'd honestly love to cosplay Ichijou-san from Pani Poni Dash. :D
I might have to actually figure out how to sew something since cosplay outfits are so expensive. ~.~; [/hasn'tsewnsince9thgrade]

I guess that's all for this year~
If you actually read all this, I must admire your extensive attention span. <3

Happy New Year everyone~!!

Writin' an entry~?
Why yes -- I am~!
Would you like an entry~?
Why yes -- Ma'am~!

So like... I finally made one of these things. (Took me long enough, amirite?)

Well, that's the long and short of it. See you when I have something more important to say~!
